Monthly Fiddle Jam, Open Mic and Free Concert

First Sunday of the Month
The Old Time Fiddlers will be hosting an afternoon of music with a Free Concert, Open Mic and Jam held in the meeting room at
St. James Lutheran Church,
2500 Shasta View Blvd., Redding California
This event runs from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
1:00 – Open Jam Session Starts. Members and guests are invited to show up and start jamming.
2:00 -3:00 Free Concert. You can watch and listen to the concert on the upstairs stage or continue to jam on in the rooms downstairs.
3:00 – After the concert we start the Open Mic. Assemble a group and then get your name and 3 songs on the signup sheet.

Penn McClatchey from Atlanta Georgia’s Sweetwater Creek Bluegrass band showed up to show off his hot flat pickin’ and singing. Seems like more people are showing up to listen and play.

Annual District 6 Potluck & Fiddle Jam Christmas Party
Well, it’s time for our Annual District 6 Potluck & Fiddle Jam Christmas Party, and a fine one it will be! This year we have the added privilege of joining in with the “Fiddle Kids Reunion” gathering to honor Evelyn Horner, teacher, mentor, musician and past District 6 member and hero during our festivities. We’re going to have a really FUN time so don’t miss it! 🙂
Sunday, December 7th at the Senior Center at 2290 Benton Drive, Redding, California. Doors will open at 1:00 PM
Yep – we will be a a new location this year – the Senior Center at 2290 Benton Drive, Redding, California. Doors will open at 1:00 PM for a casual meet and greet with hors d’oeuvres and RAFFLE ticket purchase. 🙂 We will have some really great baskets for our annual Christmas Basket Raffle so come early, enjoy some snacks and purchase your raffle tickets.
After the meet-n-greet we will have our potluck Christmas Dinner and dessert. We will have a special presentation by the “Fiddle Kids” as they play some old favorites and honor our hero Evelyn Horner. Then the festivities will continue on to the drawing for our yearly RAFFLE items!
Do bring your instruments as there will be plenty of pickin’ & grinnin’ along with the meetin’ greetin’ eat’n sweetn’ winnin’ drinkn’ and soundin’ like a party to us.
So, as usual District 6 will be providing the Turkey, Ham, Drinks and utensils. And – an usual, if you are planning on coming please bring one of the following traditional side dishes:
The Traditional Holiday Side Dishes to bring are such as MASHED POTATOES, SWEET POTATOES, STUFFING, SAVORY VEGETABLES and so on. Just so you know, the Fiddle Kids Reunion folks will be bringing the Salads and Desserts – so there should be plenty of great food for everyone.

Western Open – Smashing success
Great turnout for the Western Open today in Red Bluff. 14 contestants for the Open Fiddle Division alone! The first time being held at the Red Bluff Elks Lodge, the new location has turned out to be a hit with contestants and attendees alike. Everyone seems to be having a great time.
